About This Event

“Can you watch fear without any conclusion, without any interference of the knowledge you have accumulated about it? If you cannot, then what you are watching is the past, not fear; if you can, then you are watching fear for the first time without the interference of the past.

You can watch only when the mind is very quiet, just as you can listen to what someone is saying only when your mind is not chattering with itself, carrying on a dialogue with itself about its own problems and anxieties. Can you in the same way look at your fear without trying to resolve it, without bringing in its opposite, courage—actually look at it and not try to escape from it? When you say, ‘I must control it, I must get rid of it, I must understand it’, you are trying to escape from it.”
- J. Krishnamurti

Join us for a weekend of silence at the Krishnamurti Center in Ojai. We will explore the nature of fear and its relationship to our desire for psychological security, guided by the teachings of J. Krishnamurti.

This retreat is intended for you to be with yourself—however that looks and feels. We will meet at regular times as a group to share and respect this intention in ourselves and one another. The schedule is made specifically so that we can do away with our need to communicate about our daily engagements while having the opportunity to meet throughout the day and spend time together in silence. Saturday we will begin and end the day sitting during sunrise and sunset. There will also be an optional silent walk around the center’s beautiful surroundings. If you choose to join the walk, please bring comfortable shoes. This silent retreat invites you to pause explore the role of fear and psychological security in your life, all within a shared, silent space.
